The holiday spirit will be in the air on Saturday, December 1st during the annual Holiday Walk in Williamstown.  The Williamstown Chamber of Commerce and the Holiday Walk Committee invite the young, and young at heart, to join in the fun!

Kicking off with the Reindog Parade on Spring Street at 4pm on Saturday, December 1st, the Williamstown Holiday Walk is a family-friendly night on the town for all.  Santa will ride in on the tail-end of the parade and head into the Log.  There, he’ll be awaiting visits from all of the good boys and girls.  The Berkshire Food Project will host a Holiday Bake-Off, with cookies to please all holiday tastes!  Hot cocoa will be provided courtesy of Northern Berkshire Healthcare.

The warmth of the holiday season will be present throughout our downtown area on Spring and Water Streets.  Horse-drawn carriage rides provided by David Larabee will be available for an idyllic ride through our village.  Musical groups, including the Bennington Children’s Choir Pine Cobble Choir, Flatbed Jazz Band, Ephlats, Northern Berkshire Chorale, Hoosac Valley High School Chorus and St. Stanislaus Kostka School Bell Choir, will be performing throughout the evening.  And if you’d like to grab your five minutes of fame, WilliNet will be broadcasting live from Spring Street.  Additionally, WUPE radio will be doing a live remote.

The tradition doesn’t stop there.  The Williamstown Community Chest will sponsor a Penny Social in Lasell Gym.  Stop in and take a chance to win some wonderful prizes that have been donated by generous businesses and community members.  For the scrooge in all of us, a reading of “A Christmas Carol” will be done by Jeffery Welch and Drew Gibson in the Log at 6pm.  The evening will close with a traditional candlelight caroling processional and the lighting of the holiday tree at the bottom of Spring Street.

Looking for something to do just prior to the Holiday Walk?  Hops & Vines, 16 Water Street, will offer gingerbread house decorating for the kids from 12pm-1:30pm and 2pm-3:30pm.  Pre-registration is required.   And don’t forget to visit the Habitat for Humanity Tree Showcase located at the 1st Congregational Church and on display from 2pm-5pm.

Additionally, The Clark will host “A Rita Coolidge Christmas” on Friday, November 30th at 8pm.  The two-time Grammy winner will perform with the Williams College Gospel Choir.

Join in the fun as we support our local merchants and restaurants; experience the delights of the season that are sure to please all of the senses.  The Holiday Walk…more music, more activities, more holiday!

The Holiday Walk is organized by the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce and the Holiday Walk Committee.  Sponsors of the Holiday Walk include the Williamstown Savings Bank, Berkshire Direct, The Clark, Williams College, Arts at Williams, Wild Oats Market, The Harrison Gallery and Toonerville Trolley.  An up-to-date listing of the day’s events and sponsors can be found at www.williamstownchamber.com
